Hear we go again with an incredible new Jazz Muse Concert that we should
probably call the Jazz MASTERS Concert this time around!
Joining me as our featured artist is the one-and-only Ernie Watts. Two-time Grammy winner Ernie Watts is one of the greatest living tenor saxophonists as well as one of the most versatile and prolific saxophone players in music.
Ernie's history includes his renowned collaboration with Charlie Haden;
stints with Buddy Rich, the Tonight Show band, and the Rolling Stones; recordings with Jack DeJohnette, Kenny Barron, Mulgrew Miller, Eddie Gomez, Jimmy Cobb; and a repertoire of brilliant original compositions,
some of which you'll hear at this show.
As if that's not enough, we have an all-star band joining us, starting with
pianist/composer/arranger Alan Pasqua. Alan is a collaborator with a broad swath of pop and jazz royalty—from Tony Williams, Bob Dylan and John Fogerty to Jack DeJohnette, Paul Motian, the Brecker Brothers, The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, Sheila Jordan and Joe Williams
to name but a few.
On bass we have the incredible Darek Oles. Darek, a protege of Charlie Haden, is one of the most in-demand bassists in jazz. His style has been praised as being in the tradition of Scott LaFaro and Bill Evans. He is on the music faculty of CalArts and USC.
And last but not least we have the legendary drummer Peter Erskine
(aka Dr. Um) with us. Peter has fifty albums that have been released under his own name or as co-leader. He has played with the Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson Big Bands, Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Diana Krall, Kenny Wheeler, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Brecker Brothers, The Yellowjackets, Pat Metheny and Gary Burton, John Scofield, et al, and has appeared as a soloist with the London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Frankfurt Radio, Scottish Chamber, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony, Oslo and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.
The concert will once again be at The Village in West L.A.,
one the best small concert venues in town.
The Village is one of L.A.'s most legendary recording studios.
You can see by the multitude of gold and platinum records on the walls
that most of your favorite artists have recorded there.
Our concert space is beautiful and spacious with a 9 foot Yamaha piano.
The Village is easily accessible off the 405 with plenty of
